NPCR Brownfields Policy and Program Initiatives
The problems, concerns and solutions that arise in connection with NPCR’s projects and programs are informing and prioritizing the City, State and National policy initiatives that NPCR is pursuing.
NEW YORK CITY INITIATIVES
In New York City, NCPR is working to ensure that the new brownfield resources included in Mayor Bloomberg’s PlaNYC 2030 are directed toward cleaning and redeveloping brownfield sites in low and moderate income neighborhoods for community supported end uses. This activity builds on NPCR’s work in connection with the Mayor’s Sustainability Task Force and preliminary discussions with the Bloomberg Administration about the role of the city’s new Office of Environmental Remediation.

NEW YORK STATE INITIATIVES
In New York State, NPCR is focused on removing obstacles to the smooth implementation of the state’s brownfield programs, unlocking millions of dollars for the Brownfield Opportunity Area Program and ensuring that brownfield tax credits are available to public purpose projects in low income areas.
