ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York officials say their new initiative to clean up brownfields will focus on affected areas in the South Bronx, Wyandanch on Long Island and South Buffalo.
Meant to establish effective methods that could be used in the 100 other communities in the Brownfield Opportunity Areas Program, forums with Gov. David Paterson's Smart Growth Cabinet will examine ways to direct development into aging municipal centers while restoring former industrial and commercial sites that require cleanup.
