8:30-9:00 Introduction to Equitable Development Approach
This introductory overview will define the concept of equitable development and highlight connections to the goals of NPCR and the BOA program policy agenda using a resilient communities framework.

9:00-10:00 Coalition Building Tools
Through brief presentations, this session will highlighting effective tools for bringing equitable development conversations into the BOA process. Presentations will highlight Collaborative Problem Solving and Building Cultural Competency tools, which are proven strategies to create common ground, rebuild trust between community residents and project stakeholders and pave the way for successful project implementation. A brief case study on the Port Morris Harlem River BOA process will highlight coalition building tools in action, followed by open discussion to explore participants’ experiences with projects stymied by lack of trust between stakeholders.

10:15-11:15 Indicator Tools
This session will highlight approaches and tools for mapping and tracking revitalization outcomes based on quality of life factors and indicators. Tools will share effective ways to capture and represent a range of social, physical and health factors influencing neighborhood quality of life.  A brief case study on the East New York BOA showcases an innovative approach to evaluating redevelopment scenarios for priority BOA sites using health outcome predictors, followed by open discussion with participants to explore experience and options for integrating indicators of quality of life and social equity into the BOA process.
